TOPS & BOTTOMS

Fall’s most characterizing component is its color palette; These deep shades of brown, green, and orange, matched with classic neutrals such as navy blue, black, and beige, are the main ingredients for fabulous fall fashion everywhere.

As far as fabrics are concerned, let linen, cupro, and featherlight cotton fill in for cashmere, wool, and suede. Replace the fall fashion staple that is “a pair of jeans” with a skirt silhouette in denim or chambray for a look that maintains the vibe you are going for but feels less severe and restrictive.

LOVELY LAYERS

Layering can be done in warm weather and is especially suited to bringing the essence of fall fashion to even the lightest and airiest looks! Linen jackets and blazers are cool enough to wear outside and warm enough for the sub-zero thermostat levels that Floridians are known for keeping inside!

My favorite way to wear a warm weather layer? Over a dress…

I have scoured the world wide web to round up some great pieces that meet these requirements and that come together seamlessly to create numerous looks that work in any situation. Without further ado, my Florida Fall Fashion Capsule Wardrobe Edit

The Outfit Accoutrements

The Florida Fall Fashion Edit

Note:  In the shoes & handbag edits, I offer a variety of interchangeable wares from which to chose the one or two pieces to incorporate into your closet based on your preferences, options, and budget.

THE SHOES

As much as I love boots, they are not chic when it’s super “chaud” (that’s French for hot). With a bit of luck, the day for boots (more like booties, but I’ll take it) will come following the rare (but real) Florida winter “cold front” days I live for: but for now, my boots are not made for walking anywhere. So to ensure your footwear compliments your fall looks, simply cover up those toes and/or refer back to that fall color pallet.

Shoes from top left clockwise: Manolo Blanhik Lambskin Stiletto Pumps |Hermes Oran Sandle -etoupe |Staud Billie Wedge-tan |Carrie Forbes Houcine Raffia Wedge Sandals | Inez Isabel-Clay Silk | Sam Edelman Bay Slide-saddle leather | Staud Croc Embossed Gina Mule-brown | Staud Kenna Knotted Leather Gladiator Sandal-tan | Sam Edelman Hazel Pointed Toe Heel-dried thyme | Charles Kieth Leather & Raffia Mules | Inez Sofia Pink Lizard Emboss

THE BAG

Your purse is the place for any and all fall fabrics! I tend to stick with neutral leathers here because that’s my handbag style in general, but suedes and even velvets can be brought into the picture without compromising comfort. So for those who love a seasonal statement sac, this is a category to embrace!

Bags from top left clockwise: Mark & Graham Essential Leather Tote | Longchamp Le Pliage Re-Play-green | Botegga Cabat Leather Tote | Cult Gaia Eos Clutch-auburn | YSL Uptown Canvas Clutch | Cuyana Double Loop Bag-caramel | Chloe Marcie Saddle Bag | Gucci Horsebit Shoulder Bag | Chloe Woody Tote Bag | Longchamp Le Pliage Original

A FEW WORDS ON FINAL TOUCHES…

JEWELRY-When it comes to fine jewelry, I tend to opt for classics that go with everything and can be worn anytime.  That being said, my buying behaviors when it comes to fashion jewelry are driven by no such commitment. Not only does the right arm candy or statement ring add a little je ne sais quoi to any ensemble, but there is no more effective tool to transform a look that needs to get you through the day as sophisticated CEO and also into the evening as a dazzling date-night dynamo. Fall offers the perfect opportunity to wear statement beads in deep colors and any jewelry that has touches of wood or leather.

OTHER-Look at any fall runway and you are likely to see one of my absolute favorite accessories of all time – the scarf. Not exactly something you associate with warm weather style, but not so fast! Lightweight scarves are Florida’s cashmere equivalent.
